How to use these guides

For self-study

When looking at your natal chart through the lens of medical astrology, you should ask questions that delve into various facets of your health, predispositions, and potential for well-being. The natal chart provides a comprehensive map of your unique constitution and health journey.

Here are some insightful questions you can ask your natal chart:

I. Overall Health Foundation

  • What is my overall physical constitution and resilience to disease as indicated by my Ascendant sign and its element? For instance, Fire and Earth ascendants are traditionally considered more resilient. What is the condition of the ruling planet of your Ascendant or Rising sign? For example I have a Scorpio Rising, ruled by Mars. But Mars is placed in debility in my 12th House of Libra (in a conjunction between Venus and Pluto). He isn’t very strong in this position.

  • How does my Sun's placement reveal my overall vitality, life force energy, and energy reserves, including my heart function and metabolism? The Sun is considered the vigor, while the Moon is the bodily health.

  • What does my Moon's placement signify about my general bodily health, emotional well-being, fluid balance, and eating habits? For women, the Moon is particularly important due to its rulership over the female reproductive system and hormones. The moon is also the main distributor of the body.

  • How does the condition (sign, house, and aspects) of my Chart Ruler (1st House Ruler) further describe my overall health potential and any inherent strengths or weaknesses? This planet directly represents your physical body and vitality.

  • Temperature? The condition of Saturn and Mars (ie. too hot/ too cold)

  • Excess and Deficiency: the lunar nodes.

II. Daily Habits & Health Maintenance

  • What does the sign of my 6th House indicate about my health routines, nutritional needs, and preferred exercise patterns? For example, an Earth sign here might suggest mindful eating and a need for routine exercise.

  • How do any planets in my 6th House (and their nature, e.g., benefic, malefic) reflect my daily stressors, work habits, and general approach to self-care?

  • What insights does the placement and condition of my 6th House Ruler provide about how I can best maintain good health and address illness through lifestyle?

III. Illness, Healing & Deeper Patterns

  • What does my 6th House (along with its ruling planet) suggest about my predispositions to illness, especially chronic or recurring conditions, and those that respond to diet and lifestyle changes?

  • How does my 8th House (including planets within it and its ruler) reflect my capacity for deep psychological healing, potential for chronic illness, and my relationship with trauma or transformative experiences?

  • What does my 12th House (including planets within it and its ruler) indicate about my sleep quality, mental health, and ability to rest and recover? This house is considered the second most prominent for illness.

  • Are there any "disease patterns" or recurring astrological signatures in my chart that correlate with specific health challenges or vulnerabilities, such as a pileup of planets in a certain modality or an excess/deficiency of an element?

IV. Underlying Energetic Dynamics

  • How does the balance of elements (Fire, Earth, Air, Water) in my chart (indicating excesses or deficiencies) contribute to my temperament, vitality, and potential health tendencies?

  • What does the balance of modalities (Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable) in my chart reveal about how my energy flows and my tendencies toward acute or chronic conditions?

  • How does the Lot of Fortune (LOF) and its ruler influence my overall physical well-being and my capacity to experience good health or overcome challenges through my willpower and actions?

V. Planetary & Aspect Insights

  • How do challenging aspects (squares, oppositions, inconjunctions) to key planets in my chart indicate tension, friction, imbalances, or potential dysfunctions in specific body systems or psychological processes?

  • What does the essential dignity (rulership, exaltation, detriment, fall, peregrine) of my planets tell me about their inherent strength or weakness in expressing their physiological functions?

Remember, a natal chart shows predispositions and potential, not predetermined outcomes. Its purpose is to provide insights and clarity, empowering you to make informed decisions for your health and well-being in collaboration with healthcare professionals. It is advised if you have a medical problem you contact your healthcare provider for any advice. This is for educational purposes only.
